Hi there,
I work for the international medical aid organisation Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF) - www.msf.org. MSF is a medical aid organisation that works in 70 countries around the world, providing emergency medical care to those who need it most. We are an independent, politically neutral and non-religious organisation.
I am looking for a sound expert who could volunteer a couple of hours of their time to help us with some audio issues in the MSF UK office (based in Clerkenwell, east London).
Basically, we are starting to use audio and video much more to communicate about the work we do and the health issues that concern us.
That means recording and editing audio and video material for use on our websites, for distribution by DVD etc.
We are complete novices at this and need some help, particularly with our audio work. We are working on a G5 powermac, with Final Cut Studio and Audacity editing packages.
I need someone who can advise me on:
1. Recording voice-overs through a mic into the computer: how to set up the system, how to ensure the best quality recording.
2. Setting up our video cameras (small 3 ccd panasonics) to record audio in an optimal way.
3. Which microphones to buy to attach to these cameras
4. Cleaning up audio in Final Cut Pro (removing noise/wind and equalizing)
5. exporting and compressing audio for use on websites (which format, how to get the smallest file for the highest quality)
Think it would involve about half a day in our London office.
Sorry - we can't pay you anything, but can offer travel expenses and lunch...
Please contact me on 0207 067 4236 or lucy.clayton@london.msf.org if you might be able to help.
Many thanks,
Lucy Clayton
