whats the score here? I cant seem to buy a decent mike stand anywhere nowadays, where have they all gone? I've got a few of the stagg jobbies and they are the only ones that have lasted, bar a handful of k+m's - wheres the best place to buy good sturdy stands? What would you guys say is the best VFM? i give up with ebay - the ones i bought there (super sturdy, exellent quality, blah blah, got them out of the box and the bloody locking rings snapped!) any ideas?

I get K&M from Thomann, a lot cheaper than most UK suppliers.

you should try the beyerdynamic gst 400 mic stands. We use these stands and they get giged 7 days a week 3/4 bands a night. They can really take a beating and still survive.

I've just been to the Thornman website. "Discount sonic excellence" it says at the top. Yeh right... I cant believe how much they are asking for a Beta 58A - £137.85!! Seem like rip-off merchants to me. I can get the said mic for at least £50 cheaper and that's not doing anything special!

Best to do a bit of research when buying from them, but there are plenty of good deals.

eh? where did you see a beta 58a for that money? i think you must have linked to a different page or did u read the euros instead of uk pounds? look: SHURE BETA 58 A, Dynamical Vocal-Mic, Hypercardioid, incl.Clip and bag [Info] 149.00 EUR 102.81 GBP thats£102 for the mike, the mike clip and a bag. also thomanns are STILL the cheapest for sm58's by far. £72.45. I know the post is £12 on top, but its still the same even if you ordered 30 of the things! thats quite a saving. i think there are one or two places in the uk that do them at a similar price BUT are postaged individually. i will say though that they were more expensive for mixing desks, by about £300!!! so i think yes, your right Ian, research before buying! the advantage of buying from europe is the favourable exchange rate.
