Getting beer to the desk never seems to be a problem, even beer inside it.Found a pool of budweiser in the bss eq flight today [honest], tasted a bit off. Good luck with your GB4 .Am waiting for the GB 8 due april.Still got a couple of K1s and spirit live 4s[mk1&2] plus the mixwizards.possibly upgrading to a midas verona soon and some audix&neumann mics. Hope the cable drum has not fallen to bits yet. How much did you pay for the GB4[16 ch ?]? KV2 audio ex12 powered cabs are worth a listen. Provided gear for one off industry showcase today with Madeleine Peyroux ,[jazz].Great stuff. keep slurping at the surfer you biking geezer.

EEK! Mixwizzards! what do you make of them, all ive ever had from them is problems, phantom power, channels going prefade etc. i hear that these problems are fixed in the newer versions though, not used one yet but...

Yes the series one mix wiz was in my opinion a prototype with weird faults which could sometimes be rectified by giving it a swift kick on the side. The series two is better with only slight faults on one of three mixers I have[2nd hand] . ie-on/off light indicated off but channel is still on also even when channel is turned off you have to use the pad if you are plugging jacks or phantom power mics/dis in to avoid a loud thump. Also st ch a tad confusing for BEs but rackmount ability a +. Series three sounds better - individual phantom power/better routing[especially 14/4/2/]/cleaner preamps.Still not that keen on onboard fx but passable[not incl on 14/4] Midas venice sounds better and rider friendly but a&h and soundcraft lx7mk2&GB4 gives more bang for the buck and more aux[www.thomann.de cheapest supplier of midas ven]

Hmm-Automatic beer to the desk thing...We will get on it right away! Buy an Audient Aztec! The sound of the pre-amps is to die for! Recent people to have bought Aztec consoles are: -Andrew Grayland - MD of XTA (and designer of the XL3!) -Hawthorn Theatrical www.audient.co.uknick.pemberton@audient.co.uk 07879405945 01256381944

;D great idea, i'll get the brewery to fix one in by the desk, especially now as old bob is back on tap. Hurrah!!
mike mark, the desk (24 channel by the way) cost me £1800 on the nose. It got its first test of surfer-ness last night and i can say it passed with flying colours! The desk seems to drive itself; the only thing i missed on this desk compared to others was the lack of 20db pad; snare was peaking even with the gain backed right off! sounded fine tho.
im still interested in some of that gear youve got by the way, i'll have to give you a bell soon and discuss tactics.
oh, thanks, mines a guinness!

Nick, probably not your market,
But one of the things I'd really like is a configurable mix control surface to interface with Cubase SE/SX. I'd like to see something that does 16 faders and some rotaries (think one for each pan, eq, aux sends etc), with some kind of page-flipping for larger mixes and text read-outs for track labelling etc. Perhaps the display could even show the current eq curve for a selected channel, so that you're looking more at the control surface rather than the monitor...
Transport controls would be nice (bit of a no-brainer), and maybe even a trackpad & QWERTY keyboard functionality would be nice, so that a PC can be turned into a workstation. Connection could be made via USB. Maybe even a dedicated DAC with headphone/control room out would be useful.
Sure there's plenty of products out there that offer some or all of the above - but at £800 a go or more, surely this can be done more cheaply?
Just some thoughts in case you're still checking this one...

Nice Idea. There are a number of products that do sort of what you want - Digidesign, Mackie, Tascam etc etc.
Audient specializes in high end analogue consoles, preamps, 5.1 control, EQ etc.
Sadley, to make this cheaper that £800 is a bit of a task. I think that anything sub a grand is very good value considering the cost of development behind these techologies. I have used the mackie and I recommend it. Its also expandable and piece of p*ss to interface with protools, logic, cubase.
Cheers
Nick
