The Twentyfour Fighting Camels normally use a complete Mackie powered PA rig. When they decided to get a slightly larger mixer for general gigs, they opted for a Mackie CFX16mk11, the same as I already had for my smaller gigs.
I always take mine as a back-up, in case someone falls into theirs (has happened) or gets splashed with drink from a lively audience. (has also happened).
On Saturday's gig, the internal effects loop finally went faulty and produced some very unwanted "fire-works" noises that couldn't be stopped.
As I keep mine set up exactly the same as theirs, it took only minutes to swap-out and we were up and running.
Theirs is now off to a Mackie repair specialist, but they may upgrade to a bigger desk, if it proves to be not worth repairing.
