We (Emunah) are on the hunt for a live sound engineer. We are an experienced gigging band who play 100% live hip hop, drum and bass and breaks, with a world-music twist. www.myspace.com/emunahmusicWe are currently looking for a sound engineer to join as a band member, to provide a creative input behind the desk. We are looking for someone who would know / contribute to our songs from a creative tech perspective, know our monitoring requirements and use careful FX to enhance vocals / violin out front. This will not yet be something to do for money. All money earned from gigs goes on covering travel expenses, rehearsal costs and equipment purchase. No-one in Emunah makes a profit from gigs yet, but we make very sure that no-one spends any money either - all expenses are covered by gig fees, etc. This will be a fun and challenging project for anyone who takes it on. We are waiting to hear on a few festivals and international gigs over the next few months, and there will of course be club gigs in London / UK. Would you be interested in this? Thanks and hope to hear from you soon - please email info@emunahmusic.com if you are interested... Darren and Emunah

I've done a load of this kind of stuff, tracks on the MySpace sound great. I've worked with loads of hiphop/dance bands. But I think asking an engineer to provide a professional service for free is a bit much really - anyone who is going to commit to this on a regular basis needs proper remuneration. I shall therefore start the bidding at (a negotiable) £160 per day, plus expenses. PM me if interested...

its all very well, but IF the band gets more popular, and money starts coming in, the band gets famous and earns the cash, the engineer is the one no1 notices or gives a crap about.
be honest here... if the band does get signed, your gona get a pro engineer through the record label, and are deffo not gona be paying him an equal share of the kitty.
therefore my first reaction would be no, charge more in order to pay an engineer, or go without.

Dunno if i'd be any help but would love to give it a go. I have just finished studying engineering and am looking for bands to work with, and have arranged to work with two. I would be willing to do it for living expenses as you have described.
