Hey guys.
The band i work with are soon to start on the 2nd album and are looking into bass guitar FX. Were looking to get a real smooth sub sound that can be replicated live.
Any suggestions on bass FX pedals or anything similar we could try out that does this well?
Cheers

Hi Andy, I'm a pro Bassist and have an avenue for you to think about. I use an old Alesis Quadraverb in my effects loop- I only get away with this because my Trace Elliot GP12SMX (note, if you can find one of these old guys with their valve pre-amp and 12 band graphic you'd be laughing) removes the awful noise this unit can cause. It also has a high-pass filter so that only my top end is affected leaving the bottom awesome. I get flange, delay, chorus, reverb and "leslie" from the Quad and these can be mixed in any order. I use it Live. I suggest you find an amp with the GP12SMX (or GP12SMC) pre stage and bung a newer, better FX box through it. Note, the FX High passed mix also goes out the line out. AH350SMX and above (and pre-amp only unit) have two stereo loops to boot. My 250W unit has one mono loop. Who cares live about stereo- its a loud sod as it is. ;D

i use a hartke bass attack pedal, includes tone controls and a shape function which can be adjusted to provide some serious dub deep bass. Also has a pre/post DI out for the pa as well as a line out to your amp. really handy bit of kit!
Ultimatly, you should use a bass which naturally has that kind of tone.
I have an old hoener 'the jack' active bass which goes really low and deep on its own, and a fender precision for plucky slap and rock stuff.
best of luck, pat
