Is it possible to split a amplified signal with 2 8 ohm speakers without going down to 4 ohm. I am looking for maybe a circuit diagram to build up - if its possible. I understand that the sound quality is usually lower when you make things yourself but I just need something for a one off.
I might have to hire or buy a active crossover because I heard that it keeps the signal at 8Ohm -If thats correct.
I was thinking that the speakers could be wired in series on each side, but I am not sure if that is wise - Or is it?
Thanks
Phil

how many speakers are you using? we try and keep the spekers in our system at 8ohm, and the best way to do it is use more amps! we now use two qsc amplifiers to power four 8ohm subs. can you be more specific about your set-up?

a lyonforge amp think its about 125w rms per side but 8 ohm load min (per channel) subs 250 w max tops 200 w max. All speakers 8ohm
AMP ch1. -------> sub ---Parrallel--->Top = 4 ohm (but I need 8) AMP ch2. -------> sub ---Parrallel--->Top

Hi Phil, You will need to use 2x stereo power amps, with a 2 way stereo active crossover. The low left & right o/p's from the crossover, will go to the stereo amp connected to the subs. The high left & right o/p's from the crossover, will go to the stereo amp connected to the mid-high cabs. John.

Thanks
I will just keep it simple then. I have a older amp that puts out about 60w rms so i will use that for the tops and use the 125w in the subs.
Thanks again for your help, everyone who has give me any tips. - I really appriciate it
Phil
