Hey people - Could anyone recomend a fairly low priced desk I can use for the onstage monitors for the "artists"
I've now got 10 wedge monitors - and so I cant run them off of the MX9000
thanks people

How many mixes on the monitors? I would recommend a Crest XRM20, this has a built in split and can give you up to 12 mono monitor sends. Another option could be an Allen & Heath which can be reconfigured for monitor duties but you will still need to have a split off from your multi-core.

Ouch! I'm still new to everything and only just finished getting most of the equipment and already the prices are shooting up. I think I'll just have to wait for that.. Thanks anyway Ian! Josh

also while were on the subject; i tried using my gb4 as a monitor desk last week and it worked brilliant but obv the gb4, although it has direct outs, they are routed through the gain control so it was a bit dodgy; the bands thought the onstage mix was awesome, best theyve had, and i was quite pleased with the foh sound considering i was using the 'deep breath' behringer mx9000!! what i would like to do is use the gb4 as our 'going out' desk and use it for foldback when we get the bigger bands here; can anyone suggest the best way to rig up the gb4 for this purpose? i have made up about 2 dozen stereo jack to xlr male leads to connect the direct outs on the gb4 to the stage multicore, but would i be better off making up 24 XLR y splits? splitters are out cos i cant afford 'em!!! (unless of course i hire....) these worked a treat but of course they were affaected by the gb4's gain control. i used the aux outs to feed the stage monitor amps. should i have used the group outs (as they are assignable aux/group)?

your better off using th y splits from the monitor desk to the f.o.h because of earth issues and impedence. also you should have used the groups hence why the desk has the aux/group button, most live desks are multy purpose and whenever you mix monitors you use the grouos as master fadors for each monitor and than using each aux will send it to each groups so to each monitor,

I think on the GB4 the aux/group swap is about as much use as a chocolate fireguard, as you can only swap the four groups, not the L+R or Mono outs, handy when you've got 8 auxes available! Usual budget Soundcraft compromises, Allen & Heath cornered the budget multi-purpose market yonks ago. As for no input pads!? Padless pre-amp my arse! Otherwise, great desk!
Anyway...
What about adding a Y-split to your stagebox, exiting on a mutipin connector, so you can just have a separate set of desk tails for the monitor end?
