Hey Jim, belated Happy New Year from me as I went on a v.short "tour" with a local band, got back today. Went fairly well but they thought it would be a good idea to take their studio engineer along as well as they know how they should sound - resulting in a 3.5 hour sound check - only for the eejit to panic and wet himself when that "perfect sound" he took so long fine-tuning dissapeared with the audience arriving - bless him. after the 1st night He told me to sound check - woOt.
I read up on a sound check method called "voiceing" it's where, before bringing out the band to check that way, you hook the PA to an iPod (or alike) and play a few tracks that way to determine any problems the PA may have - It's a really good idea - I'd never even thought about checking the PA in that way (ahem) but its v.effective - definatly going to keep on using it in the future
