Hey, Ive just bought some fairly nice 600w 10" drivers for my new mid tops and im im curious to see what size compression driver you would put in. about 80w min with atleast 100db?
Im not running these with a passive crossover, instead im just gunna run system 3way with a behringer digi crossover ( i think ) so basically I can sort out the balance easier etc..
Also horn flares. Plastic ones sound erm....plasticy? lol
I really want to spend as little as possible on both compression drivers & horn flares.
Any suggestions?

horn flares are nearly all plastic, be it moulded injected ect.... just make sure they are from a decent brand, wooden ones are bloomin rare and often sound pants, and metal ones are rare heavy and are mostly old cinema ones from the 80's (checkout the brand altec ect, ebay ect...) and look carefully at dispersion to suit your needs...
ie: if using more than one cab per side you will need a narrower dispersion so they array without comb filtering, on the flipside, if used in singles, then you need a flaire which will have a wide enough dispersion to cover the front of the crowd as needed.
now to compression driver choice... going over a 10" mid section, deffinately use a 1" comp. Pretty much get what you pay for when it comes to these, but i can highly recommend the B&C DE range (preferably DE500). sounds rele sweet, crisp top end and would crossover much lower than required keeping the output clean.
ignore power handling in comp drivers... its all about sensitivity.... a decent comp driver with minimum of 80w going in continuously would actually be ruptoring peoples eardrums!!
