Hey, I`ve visited this board a couple of times in the past. My name's Jamie and im constantly being booked by the twist in colchester (there have been times where i may aswell lived there!!), so I guess im thier house engineer . We brought some of those cheapo samson clip on tom mics a short time ago. Worked fine for a while and sounded almost ok(with some heavy eq'ing ) However all of the clip brackets decided to break in the same place!! The supplier is sending us a new set of clips. My question is has anyone here used/owned these and is there any tip/tricks to stop them breaking again? Cheers J

Hi Jamie!!
i think we know each other dont we!!!!
erm...just chuck them, they are absolutely rubbish; i actually returned my clips to samson and they sent me about six new ones, which all promptly broke, cheap cheerful tat!
the only mikes that survived were the kick mike (which makes a lovely mike for a sax) and the 2 CO2 overheads which sound beautiful. the rest; absolute conbblers. Go for some nice sennheiser 604's, they seem to fit any drum and they sound ok to me! nice rubber flexible clamps. see you about!!!

Well got the new clips finally sent through. What we have done is flipped the slidey plastic on the mic side round so the mic sits sideways, haven’t had any breakages yet (touch wood), and they also sound better that way round (though I had forgotten how minging they sound though)!!
Hi Jim, sorry dude I cant remember meeting you before? Was it at a gig?
