;D i bought an 'sm 58 beta' from a guy with 100% feedback from ebay the other week. when it arrived i knew it was too good to be true at £47!!
it was a copy. it looked the part, but weighed half of my usual beta 58.
apparently ebay is now swamped with hookey copies of mikes....all from CHINA, the kings of copying.
the mike itself worked fine, i did an A/B test with it and a sm58 and there wasnt a lot in it; except for a nasty intermittent xlr connection and more handling noise.
i complained and got a refund and kept the mike; but be warned; the chinese are copying ALL mikes now; i know of a guy who bought what he thought was a genuine Neumann - turned out to be a cheap copy. Audix are being copied too, as are sennheiser.
so unless you can actually go handle one to see if its right, dont bother buying ANY mikes from ebay. its not worth it, unless you have a regular seller you deal with (and i do) and trust him. These copies are BRILLIANT and look no different to the real thing...until you hold one. then you KNOW its moody.
be warned!!!

I'm going to a couple of the t.bone 57 copies... however I MUST point out that you should take a look at the JTS NX-8's... amazing microphone, low handling noise, durable and a really nice output. I believe they're going on ebay in the region of £40 each. I actually use a JTS TX-2 as my main kick drum mic, sound great and is real sturdy... whats even better is that it only cost around £30!
