why dont you get a friendly dealer to come down to your place; set a bass rig up, get someone to play thru it and see what mikes sound best. all mikes sound different through different systems. to my ears, and they are reasonably sharp, i cant hear a lot of difference between some of the cheaper-end mikes. depends what you want - or this thread will turn into 'i like so and so mike better and yours is crap' type scenario. (heh) i know thats an extreme case but hey; its all about what sounds good to YOU and what sounds good thru YOUR system. If i mike a bass ive got an old samson kick-drum mike that does the trick; or i'll use a 58 or a 57 or the 602. yeah i could go mad and buy all signing and dancing mike but i CANT AFFORD IT so i'll stick with these! The bass player aint going to be worried whats coming out the foh if he's ragging it behind him full tilt; anyway by the time he gets on stage he'll be so pumped he wont care.

akg d112 - think its horrid and always will, doesnt sound like it has much 50 though 80, the beta52 is very nice, good on a kik too. ive used vairous mics 57, 57a, 58, 609, b52.
With regards to having 3 bass mics. It may not be neccesary, but it gives u a choice u didnt have before, i preffer to have a di. (usually clean) and a mic (usually 58 used pretty much for mid)
I did one gig with a 609 aswell as the bass and the bass di went down, i just took the roll of filter off the mic, adjusted the eq and got a really nice bass sound.

I generally find a 57 more than sufficiant for a bass cab.... never had any complaints
