also we just did our latest gig at the civic hall in Thurrock (capacity 1000) with the system, running 8 subs and 6 mid tops, the two inner mid tops running off a seperate feed on the desk for vocal in-fill and clarity. amps were all crest and qsc, foh desk was gb2 (cos we love it0 and f/back desk was allen and grief.
cheers to Ian for the splitter!!!
sounded great so we are all very happy down here!
all we need now are longer straps!

Hi Jim, I had all 4x JBL's as monitors, across the front of the stage. 2 for the lead vocal/guitarist and 1 each (linked) for the backing vocalists/guitarists, off 2x aux sends.
I had 1x 18"sub and 1x full-range 15" either side as FOH and 1x 15"sub and 1x 12"mid/high as drum fill, off another aux send.
I am thinking of getting 1x JBL MRX 515, to replace the SmartSound 12" on mid/top drum fill duty, on the 2.4k rig, as I use that as part of FOH on the 4k rig. If it is better than my current 15's, I will get a further 2 and change them out.
Cheers, John.

the SU i work in, uses OPUS MP400 wedges off MC2 MC1250 amplifers.
the wedges have big 12" PHL driver and some 4"+ beast of a comp driver. VERY nice, lots of headroom, literally can take your head off!!

I'm installing an opus system in my venue at the end of this month can't wait... 2 x CS850 boxes + 4 x SB218's. All in the close confines of a 230 max capacity venue... =)

Hi Shepz, I assume that you will be supplying hard hats and ear defenders for the punters, as they come into the venue? Might need a structural survey as well. LOL. John.

Hi Jim, did you get anywhere with the 4x covers for my JBL MRX512's?
I did a gig for Cover Story, a 7 piece band with 3 female vocalists, in Golders Green last week. I used almost everything I had, including extra new mains cables for the long runs from the back of the hall for lighting and the adjacent comms room for the sound, due to the lack of power points on and near the stage. Used 2x reels of gaffa and both of my cable guards. The gig was very well received by the 400+ audience and I recorded it live on my iMac.
I had to use bin liners to protect the JBL's in Transit (haha). Doesn't look very professional during load-in and out.
Cheers, John.

Lucky fellow Shepz,
I heard the new CS850s a couple of weeks ago. Very impressive indeed. They seem almost up to the clarity of the AT1000s now.
It is easily one of the best systems that I have heard anywhere.
Do yourself a favour an get some of their stage monitors as well.

Simion says the covers are VERY EXPENSIVE but we can source them for you if you want - i believe they are something like (im not kidding here) £100+!!!

That's OK Jim, my SmartSound covers were a similar price, (£24 each). They are extremely durable. I like to keep my rig looking good and they also keep the rain out during loading in and out. If you can get 4x of them, I will pay by whichever method you require. Cheers, John.

Do yourself a favour an get some of their stage monitors as well. the 12" phl in the mp400 monitor.... a true beast, seems to take whatever you throw at it!! the internal xover circuits.... once again, manage to make a seemingly invisible xover point, most passives have a dip in the xover frequency due to bad design the comp driver, this thing is literally 4-5" wide, and kicks out serious sound. so yeah, +1 for getting some opus wedges, lurvely!! love the cs tops, they are used all over here in plymouth, but ive never liked their 18" subs, every time i hear them, they have a distorted farty kick. used to think it was user error but it really isnt, just their inherant sound. wierd eh?

crikey. meaty looking speakers. They used M400's on the Ronson tour, so they must be good. I'll be seeking those out.
