I have ordered 8x of these 177.442 2 pin Speakon® - 2 pin Speakon® (2.5mm²), 5m From www.m-99.co.uk/Speakers/Cable/cable.htmlI will let you know what the build quality is after this next gig. My next PA gig at The Tropic at Ruislip is for The Blow (formally Urban Fox) on Saturday 7th January,2012. I will be using my 4k rig with the new Matrix amps and will have an amp channel for each of the 8x FOH cabs. This will enable me to point 2x of the JBL MRX515's into the "wings" of the music room and have independent level control from the 2x main 515's. The sound at the Tropic is very good in the main standing area but quite dull in the seated wings, so I am going to try to solve this with this rig. Cheers, John.

Just received this reply from M-99
"Unfortunately the product/s ordered from our website (or via an affiliate companies website) is/are currently out of stock with both us and our network of suppliers. As the product/s will not be available in the near future your order was therefore cancelled. Your credit / debit card has not been charged for this order."
Oh well, plan B then. Anyone know of a good supplier of 2.5mm speaker cable? Cheers, John.

John, why not make some NL4 leads up using HO7RN-F in 4 core 2.5mm? That way you can reduce the amount of cable you need on stage by running 2 amplifier channels down each cable. HO7 comes cheaper than "speaker" cable, it's black and at the end of the day, copper is copper...

I wouldn't want to use non-standard colour coding on speaker cables, so I will give that idea a miss. Cheers, John.

I wouldn't want to use non-standard colour coding on speaker cables, so I will give that idea a miss. What do you mean by "non standard"? Indeed, where is there a defined standard and if there is, what is its purpose? It's common to spider in & out of a long 18-core socapex run and so long as your tails are accurately marked, no problemo! On a smaller scale, NL8 can run 4-pairs and NL4 2-pairs, it makes life a lot easier running a single cable rather than multiples. Who cares the colour of the inner sheath?!

I ended up cutting 4x of my 10m 14 SWG leads in half and brought some more Neutrix connectors to make 8x leads. I used the 2x amp racks, (1 each side) at The Tropic At Ruislip for THE BLOW gig on Saturday. The 2x new Matrix XT4004EQ amps sounded superb and I was able to cover the room exactly as I had planned, using the 8x separate channels to power 1x cab each. The band were very pleased with the sound both on stage and out front. Their acoustic set was very clean and detailed and their rock set punched good and hard. The promoter Philip, gave me and my crew a huge thanks from stage and the audience responded. Great gig. John. www.theblow.co.uk/#/gigs/4552069079
