getting into sound engineering

Hi, I am new to this forum and the world of sound engineering (professionally that is). I was just wondering how you guys started out and any companies to badger for work etc. I have training and experience with live and studio recording as well as location recording and TV productions but just cannot seem to get anyone to give me a job. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Oh dear bit late in replying I'm afraid! My excuse is I couldn't remember my sign in name lol.

I started out running my own venue, then did a bit of touring with some small bands, then did a few major tours and it sort of snowballed from there.... The last couple of years have been a bit dead but it's picking up again now.
Keep an eye out online, do a search for 'sound engineer needed' or something, you'll be surprised what turns up.
By fa the best resource is Facebook, make up a page for your services and pester bands. Lots of them.
