suprisingly a 58 works well enough; i use a sennheiser e602 and that sounds lovely.

Yeah I've seen a few people using 58's.
Might buy that Sennheiser e602 - From previous posts you seem to know your stuff so Ill give it a try.
I've had that problem with Samson's clips - Argh... we wont go there.. but I have gone through 16~ in just under 18 months. 4 of which were due to a d**n drummer thinking he was clever
Jim - dude - Just seen your pic on fatsurfer.com.. some major facial hair going on there \m/ ¬.¬ Chain smoker? arn't we all?? lol

Sorry, but the D112 and E602 are my two least favourite mics ever! I'd suggest going for either a Shure Beta 52, Sennheiser E902 or for the classic high quality mic for ANY source a Beyerdynamic M88. But that's just my opinion :-)

well i personnaly really like a combination aof a di and a sennheiser 906 foir the band i tour with and the venues i work at reason being i find that there is no di that gives a true representation of what the bass sounds like, so the di i use for the monitors ie no feedback and also f.o.h as well and the mic i use for front of house i have the swithch on the mic on flat and in some rooms where i can get a good room eq i can get away with out eqing the bass i also slightlly compres the bass di and mic. thats my way of working

EV RE-20 although it’s expensive so probably not much help! Look out for a good used RE-20 on e-bay, they usually go for around the £350 mark. Fantastic mics and great for things like sax, brass and kick also. Dan www.loudevents.com

Cheer's LiveEvents!
I'll look into that - I've already brought the Sennheiser e602 (Thanks Jim - tis' v.good - came yesterday) and the AKG D112 (Cheers Gadget - tis' also v.good) So I doubt I'd be able to buy it, but I'll still give it a look - EV is ElectroVoice isn't it??
;D 300th Post in General Board! ;D

Yep, EV is Electrovoice. The RE-20 is around £700 - £800 new, but like I said earlier, you can pick up a good used 'un for around £350. Very versatile microphone (and big an heavy enough to bash awkward band members over the head with!) Dan www.loudevents.com

d**nit, that guy would only ship to the USA - Found another in France with the same story.
Just found some buy in london who is selling one, £330 Might have to get some funds together. - The description say's its a broadcast mic?
It's tempting, but do I really need 3 different mic's to mike-up the one bass cab? - Would be fun though
