Now know where you got it - good move to get it checked over, most of his gear was seriously abused - Spoke to the purchaser of a lot of the Shure radio kit today, and a lot of it has had to go got repair! Word on the street is you got a bargain though! Best of luck.

I thought you'd suss the previous owner !! Yes, a lot of the stuff had been abused ....... the d&b cabs in particular were in a terrible state . I have spent a few hours and a few quid tidying up the racks ( bad cable management / very dusty inside etc )but all looking groovy now. Soundcraft man has verified the total hours usage........ thankfully extremely low as i suspected, ie predominantly a lighting company that did a bit of audio too ?? Its been on soak now for 3 days, all working fine ......... can be very complex if you need it to be !!

You are right - a lighting company that could not walk away from anything - was undercutting everyone just to get work & that meant he could not pay the bills. Pity really, as I'm told he was a nice guy - just not a business brain. One job we costed at over £10,000 on hire alone, he quoted £3,500 for to INCLUDE labour! He didn't pay his freelancers for months which meant only the bad ones who could not get work anywhere else worked for him - result was trashed gear. Some of that d&b was less than 18 months old! We bought a pile on new SOCO cable for a bargain, (13 x 20 metres!)some new wind up stands & some new DI boxes and Par 56s we wanted. I was too scared to bid on any of the electronics in case of a big repair bill. We bought an i-LIVE instead! Out with it tonight for 1st real gig - and recording off it (just 2 track) NO MULTICORE and NO OUTBOARD, yet full facilities on every input and output. It's a no-brainer now. Analogue is not dead, but it is going to slowly fade away!

Spent all day today with a Soundcraft Vi6 tech support guy showing us what the Vi6 is really capable of .................... OMG !!!!!!!!!!!!!! .......... if anyone is interested in digital mixing i suggest you book a place on the next Vi6 training day. I / we learnt more today than i ever imagined. Thoroughly enjoyable but as scary as hell !!!! Full credit to Soundcraft for their customer support .......... this guy Ian was brilliant, had the desk apart in 3 mins , confirmed it'd got the screen and fader upgrades and installed the latest version of their software. Now its all ready to rock ........ cant wait.

That's a desk I want to use! Hope you have fun with it. Now just to see if I can get the WSAF (Warwick arts festival) budget to cover it next year... Rather than a million year old GL3300

If you need more of them Steve, I now have 4 * Vi6s available and a Vi4. They are finding huge favour on tours and festis this Summer. I find quite a few "analogue" engineers are being well and truly won over this year. A friend of mine who is mixing Bjork this Summer has one rather than his usual XL4.
Incidentally list prices are the same as every one else (though we work on a 3 day week). Email me for trade pricing.

Simon .... 4 x VI6's noted ........ it certainly has generated a lot of interest ......... prob out for 4 weeks with a seriously big name soon ..... watch this space. We've used it a couple of times on smaller shows - just to have a play really - and by eck, its awesome. Also used the new RCF TT line array ......... thats pretty scary too ............ 4 off 2x18 sub and 8 cells mid-hi per side a Vi6 fits neatly into a 4M Sprinter ............ now thats the way to tour !!!!!
