Yeah aint i crazy! lol. sadly there arnt many desks where you dont need tape on it with the execption of the D5, PM5d, VI6 and the DShow, which have LED screens on each channel. Even then i often find my self using tape just for the convenience although the VI6 has a cool very quick and direct touchscreen keyboard!

... btw, the screen is perfectly visable outdoors. the LS9 is definatley the best desk for the price and probably sounds just as good as say having an MH4. However as mentioned alot already there does seem to be a summing issue and you can run out of head room quickly.

As I think weve spoke on myspace about this , the m7cl is a great desk but like you said out of your price range. Ive been talking a lot with a friend whos used the ls9 and apprantly its just a more budget version of the M7.
I had a problem with the M7 in extreme daylight but thats ok as the UK doesnt really get much of that anyway.
I would hit the LS9 in my humble opinion.

that is very true, the software on the ls9 is virtually identical to the m7cl, minus the touch screen. you dont get as many racks and stuff with it but its still alotta desk for the money

i have to say im not a big fan of any of the desks you have mentioned. if you are looking for 32 channels id serious consider looking at the mackie tt24 system 32. ive found it for the kinda money your looking at to be so intuative and a lot easier to use than any of it competitors sam

Hi guys, anyone any experience yet of the i-Live desks? We've had 2 demos so far - one at a Joe Bonamassa gig & one with my son & his band. Getting one for a loan next week to really play with it - so simple to use & I think sound is quite warm for a digital - really clean but not clinical is how I would describe it. Got an ex-BBC guy coming to play with it and he is so anti-digital!

Update on the i-Live. Used it with a rock band we'd never heard before last night. Knew the guitarist from his previous bands - a real old pro musician. We got their requirements in by e-mail & I had the desk pre-programmed for their Roland drum kit, 2 guitars, bass & 3 vox inputs inside 20 mins. They wanted 4 monitor mixes & all our wedges were out to another band so we used (keep it quiet) Bose 802s!. They turned up & were a bit edgy because it took me about half an hour to get their 4-way monitor mix sorted, BUT I'd never worked with them before and they were not proper wedges. I had a lot of Eq on the 802s. By the end of the night the only complaint we got was that they did not like the gates on the mikes, BUT it turns out they've NEVER used gates before! FOH sound was tight - every vocal was clear and very distinct. No edgyness I would have predicted from a digital desk. I'm sold on it. NO MULTICORE - just cat5 cable. Saved the gig onto a memory stick & we have another booking for them in June - so now need to buy an i-Live! Out with it again on Thursday so more details then.
My usual desk is a Midas venice 320 - maybe the Midas has the edge on pure sound quality on a side by side test, but I personally got a better sound for the band with the i-Live desk.
