Hi everyone. The main band I work for just bought a lighing rig the recommended to them. Its basically 4 chauvet 250w scanners 8 chauvet 250w colour changers
I need a lighting desk that would Ideally control all of these individually, or atleast 2 scanners and 4 col changers. I dont want no cheapy DJ crap imports from china, just a decent 2nd hand dsk.
I was looking at and have been advised to go for a pulsar masterpiece 108. or secondly or one of the zero 88 frog desks.
I am looking for one of these cheapish or any other desk you think would be suitable. 3/400 max max max lol

masterpiece is alright for theatre or disco but easy to get in a mess, but if running a load of colour changers would be a good secondary desk

We actually have an as new Fat Frog for sale along with 2 x Martin Mac 2000e's if anyone is interested. The Frog was bought for a 3 -week job in May this year and is flightcased. It was then used once last week at a local school. Open to resonable offers for it and the 2 Martins. (Need to charge VAT, but it's only 15% now!)

I recently purchased a BOTEX DC-2448, 48 channel DMX lighting desk & flight case from Thomann.
The idea is to be able to control all of my 18x LED parcans from the 48x faders and create scenes without having to do it in bits on a smaller desk.
As each fader can be software assignable to any of the DMX channels, I can RGB them in sets of 3 for each parcan and only have to double-up the PAR56's, which I do anyway.
This will leave 6 spare faders for either further controls for some of the parcans or for my dimmer packs for some of my halogens.
All I need is some time to set it all up and program it, as my full time job is leaving me no time during the week for myself and most weekends are spent in my rehearsal studio or gigging.

After several evenings rigging and trying to decipher the condensed, re-translated instruction manual, I have finally got the BOTEX DC-2448 communicating with all 18x LED pars, (3 different types).
I had to restrict the 6x long 64's to 3 channels (RGB), the 4x short 64's to 4 channels (RGB & dimming) and the 8x 56's in 2x banks of 4 as wash lights, with all 5x channels available for macros.
This gives me individual control of all 10x 64's and 2x banks of wash 56's and leaves 4 channels spare, for expansion.
Tonight I will attempt to program some scenes. John.

Now that the BOTEX DC-2448 is set-up, programming some scenes was easily achieved.
Just set the record ready mode for scenes, adjust all of the faders to make a scene and hit record again. Each time this is done, the scenes are stored sequentially. When finished, chose a scene fader and a bank and hit record again. Come out of record mode and it's sorted.
Up to 1000 scenes for each of the 24 scene faders, in 4x banks, gives a total of 96,000 scenes.
The fading is very smooth , with very little flickering even at very slow fades.
I am well pleased with this rig now and it will look very impressive at the small festivals that I do. Just using the 10x LED par64's on 2x winch stands as a medium rig, will light up many of the smaller stages on their own.
I have had a couple of problems with the Stairville pars, but THOMANN have either sent spare parts or completed free repairs and shipping, under their 3 year warranty, very quickly.
John.
