Does anyone know if it's possible to get some sort of interface which will allow me to connect a WiFi capable laptop pc to a DBX driverack unit WIRELESSLY? The connection on the driverack is 9-pin serial RS232, and I have a USB to serial adapter plus a null modem cable which do the job, but wireless would make it easier to wander round on stage using it as the control surface for the monitor EQ's. Thanks in advance.

You know thats a d**n good idea smee!! Never really thought about it before. Means in theory you could do the same with KT and XTA stuff, hmmm. I will get onto that one. I have some computer geeky mates will ask them, then either post it here or give you a ring. Ahh yes, whats the deal with you guys at audio doing video kit?!? some random video mixer thing that pioneer told me you had! Which you have, spoke to dave and sorted that. Anyway will get back to you over the wi-fi thing.

I've since found out from our resident boffin that what you need is a Wireless Access Point, and an ethernet to serial cable. You then convince the computer to treat this as another COM port. Or so I'm told. I haven't tried it yet.

but surely if you need a cable, ether-gubbins to whatever, then surely there is not a lot of point as it is no longer wireless?? or am i being a muppet - as usual?

The ethernet-serial cable connects the wireless access point to the driverack units, you then connect to it via wi-fi on your laptop. Though I haven't tried it yet as I didn't have time to sort it before I went on tour. I am pleased with using the dbx software though, it makes it easier to use the more in depth facilities (eq, notch filters, dynamics etc.) It'll also happily run simultaneously with SmaartLive, so you can flick between RTA and graphics, and itunes, so you can listen to, err, tunes!

Nah, not really had the need to! Would have been kinda handy for putting in the theatre system I did last week, though. I think I read somwhere that XTA are doing an "official" wireless package for use with their processors and sofware, so I reckon DBX can't be too far behind (I hope!).
